Sea lice requirement

It would have been helpful to expand on the criticism of the sea lice standard here. The ASC standard of 0.1 was set based on conditions in Northern Europe, where there are very few wild Atlantic salmon left. The BC regulatory standard of 3 was set based on the dominating presence of Pacific salmon, which naturally carry sea lice and greatly outnumber farmed salmon.

The ASC has chosen to be flexible with this standard because clearly a number chosen for ocean conditions and salmon populations in northern Europe can't be applied as a "one size fits all" solution for BC, where ocean conditions and salmon populations are very different.
